WELCOME.
I am happy to introduce my very first set of illustration prints: a love letter to wild edible mushrooms. Last year I decided (impulsively) to paint each species I collected and ate over the course of the year. The result is this collection. A year of wandering deep in the forest. A year of spore prints and finding spruce needles in my hair. A year of mixing colors and fiddling with the tiniest watercolor brushes. I am so excited to share this work with you. I hope that these images inspire you to marvel at and engage with our strange cousins in the fungi kingdom.
A CURIOUS COLLECTION OF EDIBLE MUSHROOMS

This print is the culmination of my year of hunting, collecting and harvesting wild mushrooms in the Catskills. In specific, it includes all the species of wild mushrooms that I ate. The mushrooms were painted at full scale, and are reproduced at full scale as well. Each painting is of an actual mushroom, rather than an idealized compilation of the species. The paintings were all done in pencil, watercolor and colored pencil.
While this is the collection of mushrooms that I ate, it is not a complete, typical or recommended list of edible mushrooms. Some common species are missing, (ones that I either didn't find, or just don't like that much). And some rare and rarely-eaten species are present.
Details for hanging: 18x24 print has a 1" white border and will fit into 18x24 frames. Alternately, the white can be trimmed away for hanging within a 16" wide poster hanger.

A FEW CHANTERELLES

For this painting I've collected some of the most beloved and sought-after culinary mushrooms, chanterelles. The related genus, craterellus, also contains some well-loved edibles including black trumpets and trumpet chanterelles.

RED MUSHROOM COLLECTION

The color and shapes of forest-floor mushrooms can be quite shocking, even disorienting. These brilliantly-red species show some of the variety in shapes and textures that mushrooms can take.
